Why Christ Came: to reveal the Father

He came to reveal the Father to us.

Why did Jesus Come?

The Bible is the love story of God’s pursuit of us, His people and His bride. Yet, we still do not know him. Adam and Eve squandered the chance to know the Father, it was stolen from their hands. Then of old, we were given rules but did not recognize the God who was behind the rules, the saving of us in following those simple outlines for living. Few sought the heart behind who had given the rules; David alone was called the man after God’s own heart. So, our hardened hearts needed a more direct approach, and God sent love incarnate – Jesus. Jesus reveals the Father to us: His character and being. Matthew 11:27b says ‘no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.’

This love story that we read and say that we believe in is more than just a book. It is the revelation of our Creator, of how he seeks us and he longs to know us and for us to know him. I would guess that the full revelation will only come once we meet him face-to-face, but in the meantime, we have every moment of every day to seek him out and know him better. He has given His all, literally sacrificing His Son to reconcile us to Him, revealing himself to us. His pursuit of us is not over, we are still getting to know Him today.

He came to reveal the Father; that’s why Christ came.
