I think if we are honest with ourselves there will be something or even many things that keeps us from living fully and freely in Him. He came that we may shed this mantle, shed this weight, shed this prison.

A Colt for Christ - Matthew 21: 1-11
It is more likely that the bonding and companionship aspect of donkeys was the cause for the colt and mother to be tied together. Apparently, donkeys have strong attachment bonds and need to be around their companions so they do not suffer from separation. It makes a strong point that Christ came to reconcile us to the Father, who did not want to be separated from us.

Freedom begins in community, as a personal joy, but we are called to share it. Freedom cannot be boxed up and contained within us.
