A Lifestyle of Gratitude - 1&2 Thessalonians
We have no choice in the matter, we must give thanks at all times, in all storms, in all shallow and calm waters. It must be more than a ‘feeling’ of gratitude; it is perhaps action, doing thanks.
Thankful for Others - 1&2 Thessalonians
I have to say, I did not look for a book in the Bible for November that also had a focus on thanks. I was saying that I needed to choose a topic for the month and it just so happened that my husband said that I could look at the fourteenth book in the New Testament.
Hope in Christ's Return, Lessons from Paul - 1&2 Thessalonians
Paul looks at the confusion of the future and death, and he distills it down to hope being the future good of God in our glory in the returning Christ, and in the meantime living as light as Christ has called us.
Overcoming Trials, Lessons from Paul - 1&2 Thessalonians
We need to decide if we will overcome or if we will succumb, if we will listen to the Word or listen to the lies.
Foundations of Christian Life, Part 4 (Lessons from Paul) - 1&2 Thessalonians
Acting out our faith is not a cookie-cutter thing. No one’s walk will look like anyone else’s, just as Paul’s walk was different from Peter’s or the other disciples.
Foundations of Christian Life, Part 3 (Lessons from Paul) – 1&2 Thessalonians
The community of believers have responsibilities one toward another which Paul slips in across the two letters but are not to be missed. Not to harp, but he does speak again of love and interacting with others as well as of doing good, and the Holy Spirit.
Living the Christian Life in Community – Church membership
What are you looking for in a church home? What do you most appreciate about your church home?
Foundations of Christian Life, Part 2 (Lessons from Paul) – 1&2 Thessalonians
There were a couple of other things that stood out to me though, also as foundations of our Christian Life. Paul speaks of the word of God at work in believers, and he speaks of the power and joy of the Holy Spirit.
Foundations of Christian Life (Lessons from Paul) – 1&2 Thessalonians
Paul commends the Thessalonians on their living in faith, love, hope and perseverance. They set an example for us to consider and they set a challenge before us.
Leadership Lessons from Paul, Part 4 - 1&2 Thessalonians
I guess I am amazed at how many important aspects Paul shares about leadership. I’ve got over 15 just from 1st and 2nd Thessalonians, and I am trying to limit these to finishing today. I suppose that some are gifts or natural to some of us and others we have to work on, with those lists being different for each of us.
Leadership Lessons from Paul, Part 3 - 1&2 Thessalonians
Paul was quite a guy. He started life as a pharisee and ends it being an example to emulate. This is a great point to consider when we find that people don’t change.
Leadership Lessons from Paul, Part 2 - 1&2 Thessalonians
Any group that we belong to is an opportunity to be a model of Christ for others to see, to share our lives and be accountable, to train others up in faith and love. Let’s not stutter about and say that we are not leaders or not worthy of such things.
Leadership Lessons from Paul in 1&2 Thessalonians - Part 1
As I study through 1 & 2 Thessalonians, there are a number of things which stand out. The first that struck me was the pastoral leadership that Paul exhibits in both of the letters.
A Colt for Christ - Matthew 21: 1-11
It is more likely that the bonding and companionship aspect of donkeys was the cause for the colt and mother to be tied together. Apparently, donkeys have strong attachment bonds and need to be around their companions so they do not suffer from separation. It makes a strong point that Christ came to reconcile us to the Father, who did not want to be separated from us.
