After these weeks of August, I do feel remarkably rested. It comes and goes, but I seek my rest in Him and I seek to treat myself to rest and it is working. He is faithful and true. His voice is a gentle whisper that I need to remind myself to listen for and be refreshed. Often.

There are so many meaningful restful verses in the Bible. Remind yourself of the rest found in Him through writing verses. Deuteronomy 11, verses 18-20 say, ‘Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.’ Maybe the modern idea would be to tuck one in the book you’re are reading, your devotional or Bible; post one on your mirror or closet door; write a note on the back and tuck it into your child’s lunch bag; meditate on the rest God has given as you color one or two.

To rest securely: Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between his shoulders. Deuteronomy 33:12

To drive out the worries of the world: In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. John 16:33

To remind me to follow Him: Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. Jeremiah 6:16

I did them in color and then decided it would be nice to color them myself or just save on printer ink, so the document has color and black & white versions of the verses.
